The high-rise building, which was constructed in 1972 as a sectional building of the university, was built according to the designs of the architect Hermann Henselmann, who also received international acclaim as the architect of the Berlin television tower.<\/p>\n
In the form of an open book, the building, which was visible over a long distance, was soon also popularly known as the \u201ewisdom tooth\u201c, \u201euniversity giant\u201c or \u201e steep tooth\u201c. The city high-rise building was the tallest building in Germany in the years 1968 \u2013 1972 and is now ranked 24th in the list.<\/p>\n
In 1999 the complete building as well as the exterior facade was renovated and turned into what you find today in the heart of Leipzig. The light grey facade is made of chinese granite and glass.<\/p>\n
Today, the university is no longer located in the building. After being sold by the state government, the building now belongs to the U.S. investment bank Merill Lynch, represented by CRE Resolution GmbH.

In 2007 the restaurant areas were redesigned according to the plans of architect R\u00fcdiger Renno and designer Till Br\u00f6mme. In addition to the restaurant Panorama Tower \u201ePlate of Art\u201c the Leipzig tourism and marketing GmbH, the GET AG and the electricity exchange EEX are further tenants in the building.

The best way to enjoy the beautiful panorama of Leipzig is on the observation deck on the 31st floor. The entrance fee for the viewing platform is \u20ac 5,00 per person.<\/p>\n
Our restaurant underneath Panorama Tower \u201ePlate of Art\u201c, is the highest restaurant in Central Germany.<\/p>\n
At a height of 120 meters, you can expect not only a fantastic view over the skyline of the trade fair city and when visibility is good far beyond the city limits, but also an offer of exquisite specilities from a varied cuisine.<\/p>\n

The Theaterturbine ensemble is one of the most successful impro-theatre groups in Germany and has been inspiring companies and private festive societies throughout Germany with professional improvisational theatre since 2002. The Theaterturbine has also international contacts of the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of the impro-theatre scene! Since 2014, the improvised crime dinner show \u201eDelicate Crimes\u201c has been a regular feature of the Panorama Tower restaurant: here is not only good food, but a criminal case spun and solved \u2013 improvised, of course!<\/p>\n
